PhD Students Present Final
Defenses
Online This Fall Semester

|
The OGE staff worked with sixty-eight PhD
candidates and their committee chairs to ensure a smooth online
defense process. This includes a virtual chat room where students
and OGE staff could share tips for online defending, and a member
of OGE was available to support each defense.

Holds Its First Virtual Graduate Professional Week
|

The 5th Annual Graduate Professional Week went
virtual this year. It featured 13 online events focused on
graduate students from each school. Over 300 graduate students
and postdocs participated in a blend of online academic and

Students Showcase Research Work to World in Online Poster
Competition
|
|
|
The finalists' areas of research range from
autism intervention strategies to how cancer treatments affect
hearing ability. Debora Calderon's winning presentation
concerned the fine-tuning of the autonomic nervous system via
vagus nerve stimulation to treat post-traumatic stress

Essential
Grocery Packages Delivered to UTD Students!
|
|
|
Members of the community and US India
Chamber of Commerce board members donated $7500 towards
students' care packages. UTD helpers worked with a
local vendor to prepare 340 boxes with essential grocery
items and deliver them to the Comet Cupboard.

OGE Holds Over 50 Virtual Events
|
|
|
Since coming to campus is not possible, our
office hosted virtual events this semester. In addition to our
virtual grant writing and graduate writing workshops, we
partnered with the Career Center, Wellness Center, Student
Counseling Center, Military and Veterans Center, Intercultural
Programs, McDermott Library, SACNAS, the Graduate Student
Assembly, and others to bring programming to our graduate

Graduate Student Orientation
|
|
|
With the start of the Fall semester and the
beginning of a new academic year, OGE held its annual GRADUATE
STUDENT LAUNCH virtually. In this orientation, new students
learned more about being successful in their graduate degree
program, navigating the university, and seeking assistance when
needed.
