The Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology shapes global citizens who are critical thinkers, imaginative creators, and innovative problem solvers. We promote education that seeks and makes connections, combines critical with creative thought, theory with practice, and arts and humanities with other fields of knowledge. We support rigorous analysis and creative interpretation, contextual criticism, and artistic expression, building bridges between traditional and newly emerging ways of knowing, thinking, and doing.

Since the School combines the humanities and the arts, many faculty members are engaged in the creation and performance of artistic works in creative writing and the visual and performing arts. In addition, five centers and institutes affiliated with the School promote interdisciplinary research:
