Our summer workshops will be presented online through Blackboard Collaborate. Registered graduate students and postdocs will receive an email that provides more information about attending the presentation.

  • Managing Materials
    Wednesday, June 10, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

    This workshop focuses on time management, particularly on techniques for establishing and implementing a productive writing routine. It primarily addresses how to cope with completing a long-term writing project but also considers how these strategies can be used for juggling smaller, multiple projects.

  • Citing Sources: The Top 5 Things You Need to Know
    Wednesday, June 24, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

    This workshop focuses on how to avoid inadvertent plagiarism in covering the fundamental rules for incorporating sources into academic writing. It also addresses requirements for documenting research that are often misunderstood and useful strategies for fulfilling them.

  • Writing with Style

    This workshop considers a range of strategies based on concepts of effective written communication. It covers basic principles of academic style, focusing especially on clarity, brevity, and coherence.

  • The Revising Process
    Wednesday, July 22, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

    This workshop covers best practices for revising drafts in both global and local terms. It considers revising as steps in a process that encompasses focus, organization, development, coherence, and sentence-level issues.
